Vision

LASSO exists at the intersection of human need and animal welfare. We serve vulnerable populations—both human and equine—whose lives often depend on timely, compassionate intervention. The needs we address are real, urgent, and deeply interconnected

Core Programs

  • Horse Rescue & Sanctuary Program

Our rescue program focuses on saving horses at risk of neglect, abuse, or slaughter. We provide
safe refuge, rehabilitation, and, whenever possible, adoption into loving homes. Horses that are not adoptable due to age or medical conditions remain in our sanctuary and become ambassadors in our outreach and therapy programs.

  • Equine-Assisted Therapy & Support

We offer equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) to individuals facing emotional, cognitive, or physical challenges. These programs foster personal development, build confidence, and promote healing through horse-human interaction. Participants include children and adults with disabilities, trauma survivors, and individuals facing life challenges.

  • Youth & High School Outreach

Our youth programs provide hands-on learning experiences for local high school students through mentorship, vocational training, and volunteer opportunities. Students gain skills in horsemanship, animal care, responsibility, and teamwork—preparing them for future careers or life goals while building character and leadership.

  • Community Hay Bank

We operate a community hay bank to assist horse owners in crisis by providing emergency feed support. This program helps prevent neglect, abandonment, or the need to surrender horses due to temporary financial hardship. It strengthens the local horse-owning community and keeps horses with their families.

  • Community Education & Outreach

We host clinics, workshops, and community events aimed at educating the public about responsible horse care, the value of equine-assisted services, and the ongoing issue of horse slaughter. These efforts build awareness, empathy, and support for our mission.
